A 7 day (8 night) hike from Ben Nevis
to Inverness
Walk
the Great Glen Way with Make Tracks, starting at Ben Nevis, Britain's
highest mountain, walking along the banks of Loch Ness, to Inverness,
through what may be Scotland's most impressive natural feature, the
Great Glen. Formed by a massive glacier during the last ice age, the
Great Glen dramatically dissects the Scottish Highlands from the Atlantic
Ocean to the Moray Firth. The route goes through some of Scotland's
most spectacular scenery, passing many of Scotland's finest mountains,
and running alongside the deep clear waters of four lochs, including
Loch Ness, before finishing at Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.
However the walk itself is not specially arduous, with several low level
sections and no difficult climbs. Make Tracks arranged walks on this route well before it became an official long distance path in 2001, and you can still walk
the entire length of the route, with the backing of Make Tracks' knowledge and experience.
