A Short Walking Break in the Scottish Highlands
This short break (3 nights - 3 walking days) takes you into typical scenery of the Scottish Highlands (mountains, lochs and fast flowing rivers), but is really easily accessible for a short break. The walk starts and finishes at Callander, the "gateway to the highlands," less than one hour by car (under 2 hours by public transport) from either Glasgow or Edinburgh. The route takes you through the land of highland legend Rob Roy McGregor, following paths that he followed, and stopping at Balquhidder, where he is now buried in the little kirkyard.

| Day 2 |

| Day 3 |
Balquhidder to Brig o' Turk (10m, 16k) |
From Loch Voil, walk through two remote glens, past deserted old highland settlements, and over a mountain pass at 500 metres to arrive at Brig o' Turk |
| Day 4 |

Getting There
The start and finish points for the Rob Roy Circuit and Ramble is Callander. The nearest big town is Stirling, on the main rail network, and only 30 minutes by train or bus from Glasgow or Edinburgh. At Stirling, the bus stance is right next to the railway station. From here, Firstbus service no. 59 takes about 45 minutes to reach Callander (see timetable). There are additional buses, some of which run on Sundays, and quite late daily (see the Travelline Scotland web site and use the journey planner). |
